The Advantages of Budget Airlines

Prior to budget airlines making their way onto the airline scene, flying was too expensive for many people. It used to cost several hundred pounds to fly even from the UK to other major European cities because you could only book a flight on major airlines and their prices reflected this monopoly. You can of course still take a major airline to cities like Malaga in southern Spain and even fly business or first class.
For the past 20 years or more Brits have been visiting warm sunny climates like that in southern Spain. Budget airline companies realised that they could offer cheaper flights to major European cities if they removed sections such as first class and business class and turned the plane into purely economy class. This meant more passengers could fit on the plane. Because the destinations weren’t long hauls, and more seats were available, budget airlines could make more trips and carry more people thus providing deeper discounts on airfares.
These advantages of budget airlines are to this day a big success. Now, more than ever, people are able to take affordable holidays like never before. People who used to save up for a sunny trip to Europe maybe once every few years could now afford to take 2 holidays per year. It makes perfect sense if you think about it, and as a result many budget airlines hit the scene such as easyJet, Ryanair, and many others. The larger airlines couldn’t compete with the low fares and primarily stick to longer haul flights. So, before you take a holiday to Spain, France or Italy, be sure to compare the best deals from budget airlines first and you’re sure to find a great deal.
